The Rotary Viklang Kendra is central to our aim of defeating disability.  A Project of Rotary Delhi Central Charitable Trust sponsored by Rotary Club of Delhi Central.  The Kendra was established in the year 1988 on a 100 sq. ft. space where provision of free artificial limbs (based on Jaipur Foot Technology) was the primary function. This has now developed into a comprehensive rehabilitation unit spread over 6000 sq. ft., thanks to the untiring efforts and dedicated efforts of stalwarts.

MAKE UP YOUR ATTENDANCE

Apart from the mandatory requirement of every Rotarian to attend a certain minimum percentage of your club’s weekly meetings, your club highly values your attendance as the same is a tell-tale sign of a strong, active and vibrant Rotary club.

Message from the District Governor

Dear Rotary Leader,
Greetings!

Welcome to the second quarter of the Rotary Year 2017-18.

October is the Economic and Community Development Month. It is also the month of Festivities. I extend my special greetings and good wishes to each one of you and to your families.

I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate the whole hearted efforts being put in by one and all; whether you are doing humanitarian service projects to bring a smile on the face of a needy or working towards building Rotary’s Public Image or creating events to enjoy fellowship with family and friends; your initiatives are praiseworthy.

I also appreciate the active participation shown by club officials in the District Membership Development and Public Image Seminar as it reflected their keen interest in working towards building our RI. District 3011 into a BRAND.

In the years since PolioPlus was launched, the combined efforts of Rotary, the governments of the world, and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative have brought the number of cases of polio down from an estimated 350,000 per year to just a few so far in 2017. But we must reach zero cases, and stay there, to achieve eradication. To do that, we need everyone’s help.

On 24 October, we will mark World Polio Day. It is a day to celebrate how far we have come and an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness and funds to complete the work of eradication.  I ask each one of you to participate in some way in World Polio Day activities; whether you host a fundraising walk, or any other innovative initiative, your club can make a real difference.

Regards

Ravi Choudhary

Message from DIR

Interact is an International organization for the young (12 to 18 years) to come together and work towards making the community and the world a better place to live. Interact stands for “International Action” and are sponsored by Rotary Clubs under the aegis of Rotary International. Rotary Clubs provide guidance and inspiration but the Interact Clubs are self-governing and self-supporting.

Early in 2006 (aged 5 years), I was inspired by my Rotarian Parents to do this noble work. I would hold their hand and follow them to all the NGO’s they used to volunteer and support. Initially, I was drawn towards the needy and the less fortunate, sharing with them my tiffin, pencils / erasers and toffees and involving with the children in their creative activities, rhyme recitations & development of skilled games. Then later, teaching them english, simple arithmetic, colour identification, painting, recitation of nursery rhymes; inculcate in them good habits and moral values; teaching them to respect, love and take care of elders; organizing various activities and competitions to improve their IQ levels and develop leadership skills which in turn helped them in their mental and emotional growth.

As time passed and I became a bit more mature and felt that I had a mission - to recognise the dignity of the poor and under-privileged, just like my role model Saint Teresa of Kolkata did. It was an effort to start but at the end I was happier spending my time doing something both my heart and brain wanted. This was important to me as it made me mature and responsible towards the society.

Looking back, I think I was lucky to have made the right choice, even though at times it was heavy and would have loved to play and have a free time with my friends and family, but deep in my heart, I felt for the underprivileged. Interact provides a platform through service activities, where likeminded Interactors learn the importance of Developing leadership skills and personal integrity; Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others; and Advancing international understanding and goodwill.

This further gives them the inspiration to become Rotaractors and finally Rotarians, the Leaders of any Country.
